This is the OOC for the upcoming thread. I will have the RP itself with an intro post that should answer a few questions about the world that haven't already been answered. See the Interest Check for these, I'm feeling to lazy to repeat myself on a site that doesn't require sifting through threads yet Tongue

Basically, the storyline I am thinking of moving with is that the nation that is currently the setting of the story is a massive and sprawling one that holds the majority of the power in the known world. The appointed King is a tyrant, using the peasants to line his pockets and murdering thousands. The rich and the powerful are part of his charges, and they assist in keeping the peasants downtrodden. However, there seems to be something amiss that is causing more brutal treatment than usual. What the cause is, everyone is unsure of. The people are getting worn down, the empire is crumbling under the weight of its own lord, and thoughts of revolution are mumbling among the plebs. If they will rise up, or if something more awful may arise, remains to be seen.

Demons/monsters etc. are acceptable. Low magic world, primarily human, other races do exist, as long as you're within reason, I don't care what you pick. The opening post will explain more about the world etc. I'm pretty open to most things as I think most RPs work much better if everyone is allowed to have input into the story etc.

Here is an example CS that just so happens to be my characters CS. Feel free to use pictures or words for descriptions, depending on how lazy you're feeling.

Name: Meridius Rembrandt
Age: 26
Weight: 210 lbs
Height: 5'11''
Race: Human
Appearance:
Ignore the gun. Wears a hide overcoat, not a cape/cloak. (see thread for greater detail)
History: Meridius is well known as a mercenary for hire. From the time he was of age to wield a sword, he was trained by his foster father to do so with skill and speed. Growing up in the small town to the south known as Wigraff, he was not exposed to much of city society, and get increasingly distrustful of anyone with money, power, or not living the simple life of his farming family and neighbors. What little he was taught in the way of morality and God-fearing by his parents did little to seemingly affect him. At the time of his foster father's death, he left and traveled north. From the age of 18 onward, he began to make a name for himself as a sellsword. An assassin, a mercenary, a spy, whatever was needed at the time, Meridius was the man who could do the job. Worse that that, it had been said that he was developing affinity for magic. That was the last that was mentioned of him before he disappeared, not replying to contracts sent his direction. Nobody knew where he had left to as he kept mostly to himself.

It has been 3 years now since his disappearance, his name, as with most sellswords, is not longer prominent. He has been forgotten to the next great mercenary. Whether he retained his skills over the time away has yet to be seen...

Personality: Meridius is a typically reclusive man, likely from his upbringing as a farmer's son. However, his mean streak is well remembered by those that had hired him or those that had been his victims. He seemed to strike with no remorse and no regard for anything but lining his own pockets. Whatever caused him to disappear, nobody knows how it might have changed him. (I prefer to build more detail in the RP, as opposed to a generic thing here)

Weapons:
-Two "Swing blades," A weighted curved sword that gets larger toward the end. A little longer than a short sword, it is great for hacking and cleaving limbs. While being weighted near the end, it is not a heavy weapon and works well for a quick fighting style. One is sheathed on each hip typically hidden under his hide overcoat.
-Has been known to carry a longsword on his back.
-Typically carrying small knives/daggers for sneak attacks.

Abilities/Skills:
-Adept at skills of subterfuge.
-Has magical ability, not highly developed. (will explain further in the thread)

Name: Wade "The Rat" Irving
Age: 26
Weight: 100 lbs
Height: 5'6''
Race: Human

Appearance:

Wade is best described as a short, slender young man with a somewhat ratlike appearance. His bony, skeletal frame seems almost devoid of all character, save for his notably large nose, ears, and bushy eyebrows. Wade's deeply set eyes display a dark, nearly black coloration with a sparse black stubble dotting his face to match the short hair of barely an inch that covers his skull.

In terms of clothing, Wade sports a dark brown hooded cloak, seemingly a size or two too large, with a pair of snug fitting black pants and a white wool tunic underneath. His footwear features only a pair of rather well worn leather shoes that have most certainly seen better days. Around his waste is a rather crudely fastened leather belt complete with a solid brass buckle, and small metallic flask almost always filled to the brim with whiskey on his left, and a small dagger on his right.

History:

Growing up as a street urchin in Galil, where not even a one of the many copiously rich noblemen should spare even the scraps of their poorest meal, Wade was found on the brink of death by Tarsis Mendell, the leader of the infamous "Black Dagger" thief guild and recruited into their ranks, largely comprised of street orphans and peasants who had lost what little they had to their tyrannical lords. As such, Wade was taught the ways of stealth, deception, and thievery from an early age. What's more, is that he excelled at it, eventually earning himself the alias "The Rat" due to his appearance, fleet-footedness, and manipulative ways.

After numerous robberies of the noble households, holding some of the most valuable treasures in the land, Wade and the other members found themselves with a price on their heads large enough for any who slew them to retire many times over. Needless to say, over much time their hideout was eventually discovered, and the Black Dagger's met a very violent, and bloody end. Wade was the only member to survive the slaughter. How he did so is currently unknown, and he has thus far refused to comment in any detail to the few living who know the face behind the name. The details of his activities are scarcely known, and even less so since the fall of Black Dagger's.

Personality:

Wade is an incredibly seedy individual caring for little else aside from money, liquor, and prostitutes. He's an active gambler, and chronic alcoholic with a taste for whiskey in particular. In addition, Wade is an incredibly obsessive individual who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, and cares little for the needs of others. Well being generally rude, and dismissive of those around him, he can be very manipulative when he wants to be and excels at taking advantage of others.

Weapons:
- a small dagger, as Wade prefers to rely on his swiftness in combat situations as he is not very imposing.

Abilities/Skills:
-Expert in the art of silence and ambush, while maintaining a surprising level of swiftness.
-Break and enter abilities are second to none.

Name: Helaine Murdock
Age: 23
Weight: 170 lbs
Height: 5'9'
Race: Human
Appearance:She can typically be seen wearing something along the lines of this:

History: Ever since she was able to walk, Helaine has been serving the lord of her life, her father. Due to her stubborn nature, she was often slapped or ‘beaten’ as is the custom for unruly noble children. At the age of seven, Helaine left her home, the Murdock Manor, and was sent to Ellis Manor to begin her study of manners and other etiquette, such as the curtsy and various means of communicating. When she was sixteen, her parents came to visit her and were surprised at how much she had changed from the rambunctious child to a well-mannered teenager. It was then she was given the news that on May 21st, when she turned seventeen, that she would be married to Jonathan Ellis. Helaine did not like this news, and on April 2nd, the Ellis’ could not find her anywhere. [This will be expanded as the story progresses.]

Personality: Helaine is a very stubborn young woman. She despises the role of the female, who are only to rule the men in their life. Though she hates to be told what to do, she considers herself a leader and a logical one at that. Helaine is loyal to those who respect her, whatever few those people are. Because she is a woman, not many even care about her. After all, she’s only female, but she had the heart of a man. She has no fear, yet always hides her true emotions in order to gain more respect. Also, she loves to watch jousting tournaments. Sometimes she is spiteful, sarcastic, and easily angered. Helaine considers herself 'tough.'

Weapons:
-A cattle whip that she had stolen from the Ellis’ Stable on April 2nd.
-Bow and Arrows.
-Some small knives that she carries in her boots.

Abilities/Skills:
-She can dance, weave, sew, and hunt.
-Ride horses.
-Fluent in Gilikkin.
-Can read and write.

Looks good squee. The only thing that's a issue to me is there is no France in this world (as it's not earth), thus there can't really be a french language. Tongue

Don't even think about rushing me. I'm working on something during my free time, and that's not often.
